Baltimore is a bustling thriving city that has much to offer and to see. There are many fine museums and attractions to see. This is a city that has a deep rich history and a place where many of our founding fathers lived and worked. You will be able to see many historic sites and visit the beautiful harbor which has much to offer. This is a great place to bring the family on vacation because there is something for everyone.

John’s Hopkins University which was founded in 1876 was the first research university in the United States. This is the home of the Bufano sculpture garden which has 10 pieces of sculpture depicting various animals. These are all sculpted by the 20th-century artist Beniamino Bufano. This is also the place where you can see the Home Wood House Museum. This house was built in 1809 and was a wedding gift from Charles Carroll one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence to his son. This home is noted for the Federal period architectural details which can be seen inside and out. This is a beautifully restored home and is furnished with early 19th century decorative and fine art.

The Inner Core in Baltimore is a historic part of town which has a lot of things to see and do. This is home to the Walters Art Gallery, the Washington Monument, and Port Discovery just to name a few. In the Inner Core you will also find the Lexington Market. This market with established in 1782 and is still at the original site. You can find a variety of foods from seafood to fruit and baked goods. There are also candy stalls and a variety of prepared foods. Every Friday and Saturday there is free live music at noon in the arcade. Many annual events are also held here, including Black History Month, Literacy Week and Artisan Week. This is a great place to browse and look at all the wonderful products.

Here is where you will also find the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House which was opened in 1927 and is dedicated to Mary Young Pickersgill, who made the Star-Spangled Banner that flew over Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. You can tour the 18th-century home and also the museum. The house is furnished with Federal antiques and is a great place to learn about the making of America’s oldest national flag. The museum also has military and domestic artifacts from the War of 1812. This is a great place to visit to learn about our history.
